Catherine Percival, PhD

Catherine Percival has over two decades of work and research experience in water management, hydropower operations, and hydrologic modeling. As part of the water management team at Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), Catherine was responsible for the water management and generation forecasting on multiple complex hydropower projects. She has guided water management decision making through numerous challenging and high-stakes situations, including historic multi-year droughts and major construction projects. As a result of these experiences, Catherine believes strongly that effective water management comes from a combination of technical expertise and attention to building positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Prior to joining PG&E, Catherine received her PhD in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
Her dissertation research focused on sensitivity and uncertainty analysis in hydrologic modeling and was published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, including Water Resources Research, Ecosystems, and Environmental Science and Technology.
