Washington, D.C. – Malcolm Woolf, the President and CEO of the National Hydropower Association, released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Promoting Efficient Review for Modern Infrastructure Today (PERMIT) Act:
“This legislation is a vital step for the U.S. hydropower industry, delivering long-overdue clarity and predictability for hydropower by streamlining the Clean Water Act permitting process. It empowers economic growth, accelerates critical projects, and strengthens domestic hydropower production, all without compromising environmental safeguards. I urge the Senate to also pass this bill as soon as possible.”
