More than just a tradeshow, Clean Currents is a place where the top minds in water power come together to exchange ideas shaping the future of renewable energy, and this year’s keynote speakers promise to do exactly that by offering insights from across the power sector that can help guide hydropower’s role in a rapidly evolving grid.

BOB YEAGER, PRESIDENT, POWER AND WATER SOLUTIONS – EMERSON

Bob Yeager, president of Power and Water Solutions at Emerson, will bring a global lens to Clean Currents’ Wednesday plenary session. Yeager leads Emerson’s strategy and digital transformation efforts for the electric power, water, and wastewater industries, which gives him a unique vantage point on how technology is reshaping operations across the grid.

Yeager’s keynote will explore where hydropower fits into an increasingly complex energy landscape marked by distributed generation, storage advances, and the growing importance of flexibility and control. Additionally, he will discuss the major disruptors driving this transformation and how next-generation digital tools can improve efficiency, bolster grid resilience, and strengthen hydropower’s contribution to a cleaner energy mix.

JIM ROBB, PRESIDENT AND CEO – NORTH AMERICAN ELECTRIC RELIABILITY CORPORATION

Jim Robb, president and CEO of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), has nearly four decades of experience ensuring the reliability and security of North America’s bulk power system.

As the head of NERC, Robb oversees the organization’s reliability mission and leads its key programs, including the Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (E-ISAC), which plays a vital role in addressing emerging cybersecurity threats.

Robb’s remarks at Clean Currents will come as part of a fireside chat discussion, led by NHA’s Michael Purdie, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, where he’ll discuss the challenges he sees in navigating grid reliability in the face of tremendous growth in electrical loads, as well as hydro’s role in keeping the lights on across North America.

Executives from two the largest investor-owned utilities in the United States – Southern Company and Pacific Gas and Electric Company – will be joining the conversation to weigh in on how owners and operators of transmission systems are working to manage growth in real time.
